Working Trains Over Lines/Loops Flashcards
Signaller must not allow a train carrying passengers to enter a goods line/loop, unless:
- The arrangements have been published
- Its an emergency and the signaller has been authorised by the signal box supervisor
- Operations control have given permission
If arrangements have not been published for using the loop line, what must you do?
Signaller must stop each train carrying passengers and tell the driver what is happening
Goods line/loop that is not protected by train traps. The signaller, must be sure, or get assurance from the person in charge, that:
- The sidings are clear from vehicles and no movement will approach
- All vehicles and traction units on the sidings are properly secured and are clear of the line to be used for the train carrying passengers
If driver of any traction unit present
Signaller must tell driver or be sure that the driver has been told, he/she cannot make any further movement unless authorised by the signaller
Additional precautions
The loop must be clear throughout, and all points beyond the loop exit (signals must be correctly set for train).
All points in correct position until the train has passed clear of the points, or, has stopped at the signal protecting those points
