Q

As what point can you send train out of section after you have observed the tail lights on the back of the train

A

When the train has passed the clearing point, or passed beyond a facing junction, and you have set the points for another line which is clear, to the clearing point of the line, or has been shunted clear of the running line

17
Q

Before allowing a train to approach from signal box in rear you must make sure, what?

A

The line, or a facing junction the line to which the facing points are set is clear up to and including the clearing point

  • All points within the clearing point have been set for the safety of the approaching train
  • No conflicting movement has been authorised that will cross or foul the clearing point
  • No train has been accepted from another direction that requires a portion of the same line with the clearing point for acceptance
18
Q

You must not allow the clearing point to be obstructed for a train that has been accepted, unless?

A
  • Train stopped at home signal
  • Train passed beyond any points or crossing that you need to use within the clearing point
  • You have received cancelling from signal box A
  • The train has failed
19
Q

Returning signal to danger or caution in front of a train

A

You must contact the driver on GSMR

20
Q

If a signal has been replaced to danger the signaller must make the driver aware, first before …

A
  • They permit any obstruction of the route the signal applies to
  • Move any points within the route
21
Q

Stop signal that has been cleared for a train to proceed must be replaced to danger, when?

A
  • As soon as the last vehicle of the train has passed the signal
  • When there are facing points the last vehicle is clear of the points
  • When the driver has been aware the signal will be returned to danger
  • Immediately in an emergency
22
Q

Unable to release a signal, you’ve receive line clear (2 bells) but this fails to release the section signal, you must?

A
  • Treat section signal correctly locked at danger.
  • Tell the signaller in last box what has happened.
  • Instruct the driver of the train to pass the signal locked as danger
