working together Flashcards
what was situation with your working together example
Situation
My current role as a project team leader there was a delay in employing staff for my team due to approval from HR.
During this time the project had commenced with objectives already in place with regards to the distribution of the Coronation awards to Serving people.
what was the task for the working together example
Task
The task was to ensure everyone who attended the priority events for the Coronation were given their awards first, which the office estimated to be around 5000.
what was the action taken in the working together example
Action
The action I took was to devise a plan and source help from across different teams to ensure this would be delivered.
I found a department who was willing to help and support with the tasks. Although I had not worked with this team, I was willing and positive with the idea of working with different people in the civil service.
I received help with organising and preparing packages to be delivered nationally and internationally.
I established a team environment in the area where the work was being completed and provided mutual support towards the department that was helping me with these tasks.
I recognised that the nature of the task could aggravate stress as there was high workload present. I minimised this concern by setting expectations and offering support to staff to aid effective teamwork.
what was the result in the working together example
Result
The result of this task was that the other department supporting me with distributing awards was able to exceed expectations set for the team’s objective.
When collaborating I knew that communicating and sharing all my knowledge would support the running of the task.
I found that reassuring the team throughout ensured we remained consistent. Engaging in a joint effort across different departments enhanced the results as they were able to be completed faster and more efficiently.
However, more importantly it demonstrated that in the MOD organisation building relationships outside of our teams can support the delivery of results.
