Q

Evidence that the PL and VSS are separate: Baddeley (1975)

A
  • PPTS were asked to perform two visual task
  • They were asked to track a moving light and describe the angles of the hollow letter f
  • The task was hard as both tasks require the VSS

Q

Evidence for PL capacity

A
  • PPTS was visually shown a word list and then asked to write them down in the same order
  • One condition had monosyllabic words like bond and yield
  • the second condition had polysyllabic words like opportunity
  • PPTS can recall more monosyllabic words than polysyllabic words
  • This suggest that the capacity of the PL is the time it takes to say the word

Q

WMM AO3: inferences

A

Models of the memory cannot be directly observed so researches have to make inferences on the structure of memory based on behaviour observed during experimentation. These inferences could be incorrect.
