You are working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in a metropolitan community mental health team. You are asked by the team leader to work with other discipline seniors to develop an assessment form for the team to use for initial assessments
Detailed assessment aims: The candidates attitudes to working in a collaborative manner with a variety of disciplines
The candidates ability to have an awareness of the broad range of areas that are important in assessment of clients living in the community, including those outside a standard psychiatric history

Manager

- Effective consultation services with respect to patient care, education and legal opinions
Achieves the standard by demonstrating the following – an awareness that in addition to the elements of a standard psychiatric history, such things as function (accommodation, finances, self care, living skills) and carer/family/support systems/culture must be considered
Collaboration
Here the candidate demonstrates all or some of the following:
- Consult effectively with other physicians and health care professionals - Contribute effectively to other interdisciplinary team activities
Achieves the standard - displays ability to collaborate with other disciplines in the development of the form, and recognises that there are different priorities and perspectives.awareness of a range of potential tensions within teams and of the many potential origins (eg interdisciplinary, role of diagnosis and use of medical model, lack of resources, over work, systemic problems, personality conflicts) though may choose to discuss one or two in more depth, and aware that these may have negative consequences for staff, clients and the team.
