Two types of recruitment
Internal and External
Name the seven steps in the recruitment process
Identify vacancy, make a job description/specification, advertise the job, process the applications you receive, shortlist, interview, select most suitable candidate.
Name two advantages of internal recruitment
The manager knows them, the candidate knows the business, it’s a shorter process, it’s cheaper (don’t have to advertise), motivates employees.
Name two advantages of external recruitment
Fresh new ideas, experience from competitors, more candidates to choose from.
Name two disadvantages of internal recruitment
It creates another vacancy, causes resentment towards managers from candidates who don’t get picked.
Name two disadvantages of external recruitment
The managers don’t know them (their personality etc), it’s a long and expensive process, the candidate needs more training.

Being next to an experienced worker, mentoring, coaching (group sessions etc), job rotation.
Name two advantages and two disadvantages of on the job training
AD- easy to organise lower costs and the work is specific to the job they will be doing
DIS- trainer and trainee aren’t productive, bad habits can be passed on from from trainer to trainee
