Distinguish intrisic determinants of motivation and extrinsic determinants of motivation?
Intrinsic- person feels fulfilled through carrying out an activity itself and helping others
Extrinsic Extrinsic - incentives on the external environment (competition, compensation)
What are the two types of theories of motivation and dinstinguish them
Content and Process
Content explains what motivates employee
and Process explains how someone is motivated
What is Maslow’s hirarchy of needs?
Physiological needs (basic needs) , Safety (security), Social needs-interact with others , Esteem needs(power and status) and Self-actualization (reach full potential)
What is maslow’s asian version?
Belonging, physiological. safety, self-actualization 8in the service of society)
Explain Herzberg’s Two Factor theory motivators and hygiene factors
There are 2 types of factors influence job satisfaction: motivators and hygiene factors.
Only when motivators are present, there will be satisfaction (achievement, recognition, responsability, advanacement, work itself).
If hygene factors are not taken care of, there will be dissastifaction (saary, interpersonal relations, technical supervision, working conditions)

• Want concrete feedback

What is goal setting theory~?
How individuals set goals set goals and respond to them and the impact of this process on motivation
- They are assigned challenging and specific goals
- They participate in the process of setting the goals
What is expectancy theory?
Motivation is influenced by a person’s belief that
• Effort will lead to performance
• Performance will lead to specific outcomes
• Outcomes will be of value to the individual
