What is a Noun?
A Person, Place or thing
What is Verb?
A doing word like ‘walking’ in the park
What is an Adjective?
A describing word (big house) (only nouns)
What is an Adverb?
Describes a verb
What is a Pronoun?
A word that replaces a noun like He, She or They
What is are Possesive Pronouns?
A possessive pronoun is a pronoun used to indicate indicate ownership (mine hers)
What are Prepositions?
A preposition is a word or group of words used before a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase to show direction, time or place
What are Determiners?
Word which is used at the beginning of a noun group to indicate, for example, which thing you are referring to or whether you are referring to one thing or several
What are Conjuctions?
a word used to connect clauses or sentences or to coordinate words in the same clause (e.g. and, but, if ).
What is a Plural Noun?
Plural nouns are nouns that are more than one, for example, ‘birds’ is the plural of ‘bird’ and the word
‘cities’ is the plural of ‘city’.
What is a Modal Verb?
Modal verbs are useful for telling us about how necessary, or possible, something is.
What is an Abstract Noun?
An idea or concept - something that you cannot actually see, touch, hear, smell or taste. The opposite of a concrete noun. E.g. Love, hatred, anger, happiness, truth, freedom, dedication, peace, knowledge.
What is a Proper Noun?
Proper nouns name a specific object, person or place. They require a capital letter, because they give us the actual name of something or someone. For example, ‘Italy’ or the name ‘Angelo’.
What is an imperative verb ?
The imperative verb is an action a speaker or writer wants someone else to do. (open the window)
