Describe modified wood
A
It is altered wood because it is mixed with other substances like glue, etc.
Less expensive and harder than wood

What are the problems associated with degradation of wood
A
- Fungi
- Microorganisms & insects can infest and feed off of wood

How to fix infestation/organisms feeding off wood?
A
- Coat it with a stain varnish “Green” wood has been dipped in a basic copper solution & thus chemically altered s bugs get sick/don’t like it
- High heat treatment at a high temperature (costs more). This removed H2O which helps organism feed
