Tx: metronidazole (Flagyl) -think flagella treated with Flagyl
No need to treat partner
Pseudo hyphae and spores with WBC;
White cheese like curd discharge, itching,swelling, redness

Candida Vaginitis
Tx: miconazole, (Monistat) clotrimazole
Protozoan w/ flagella seen on wet mount, strawberry cervix (punctate hemorrhages), dysuria
Test: wet mount withOUT KOH
Tx and what is this?
Trich
Tx with Metronidazole (Flagyl)
Tx partner too!
Note: wet mount without KOH bc/KOH will kill the Protozoa
Chronic scaly erythematous rash that looks like eczema and starts on the nipple and spreads to areola and dc may be straw colored or bleeding- type of cancer
Pagers disease
What does the Tzank Smear test for?
Evaluates herpetic infections (oral, genital, skin). A positive smear shows large abnormal nuclei in squamous epithelial cells.

Primary: chancre (painless ulceration)
Secondary: condylomata lata, rash on hands and soles of feet
Tertiary: gumma (non cancerous growths), neuro and heart problems
Tx for Syphillis
Test for Syphillis
Tx: penicillin G (think: syphillis affects penis with painless chancre so tx with PENIcillin)
Test: RPR or VDRL for screening
If positive, confirm with FTA-ABS
Signs of pregnancy
- Presumptive (no period, quickening, n&v)
- Probable
(Goodell’s sign- softening of the cervix, Chadwick’s sign - increased blood flow, Hegar’s sign- softening of the isthmus of the cervix, +hCG, ballottment (pushing and floating mass felt) - Positive (palpation of fetus by MD or NP, visualizing fetus on US, ascultation of fetal heart tones)
