TRICHMONIASIS
A
- Protozoa
- Yellow, green, frothy odorous discharge
- Treatment: Flagyl
- Oral or IV

CHLAMYDIA
A
- Most common STI
- World’s leading cause of blindness
- Infects the fallopian tubes, cervix, urethra, Bartholin’s glands and leads to PID, ectopic pregnancy, and Infertility
- Can be asymptomatic
- Males: Urethritis
- Females: purulent discharge, burning & frequency, lower abd. pain
- Treatment doxycycline, tetracycline; azithromycin (if pregnant)
— All orally
— Causes Photosensitivity

GONORRHEA
A
- Women- may be asymptomatic
- May have purulent, green- yellow odorous discharge, dysuria (painful urination) frequency
- Males- Urethritis- discharge and dysuria
- Treatment: Ceftriaxone (rocephin)

HERPES
A
- HSV-2
- Lesions, painful
- Treatment: Acyclovir (anti viral) (zovirax)
- Can cause Congenital herpes
— History of herpes= schedule C-section

SYPHILIS
A
- Spirochete
- Early stage: chancre (open wound). Fever, weight loss, malaise. (Feels like the flu) Lasts 4 weeks
- Late Stage: starts in 6 weeks to 6 months.
- skin eruptions-congylomata lata (infectious), arthritis, hepatomegaly and spleenomegaly, nontender enlarge lymph nodes, iritis( inflamation or iris of the eye; reddened), chronic sore throat and hoarsness.
- Treatment: Pencillin G
- Contact precautions
- Can treat during pregnancy
— If not treated, will be passed to baby

GENITAL WARTS:
A
- HPV- Human Papillomavirus
- Causes cervical cancer
- Incubation period 3 weeks to 3 years
- Vaccine: Gardisil protects against 4 types. Age 9-26 yrs.
- May treat with cryotherapy, surgical excision
