Definition of Human Trafficking
A
According to the US Dept. of Justice: Human trafficking is the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labor, commercial sex, or domestic services, through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage or slavery.

Red Flags: How to Identify a Victim of Human Trafficking
A
- A person who is accompanied by an individual who answers for them
- Reluctance of victim to respond or reveal the true situation
- Signs and symptoms of physical, mental or sexual abuse
- Evidence of being controlled
- Fearful or submissive
- Lack of identification documents
- Does not know physical address or is homeless
- Inconsistent story/history
- Non-English speaking
- Possession of expensive items
- Substance abuse
- Brandings in for form of tattoos or markings

- Be informed and recognize signs of trafficking, practice trauma informed care
