- In the Catholic tradition women cannot be ordained as priests (Jesus’ disciples were men)
- 1994 Pope John Paul said this would remain the case
- Some churches have allowed women priests
- The CofE 2015 = first women bishop

A
- Qur’an does not mention whether women can lead prayers but it traditionally a male role
- In Sunni Islam a women can lead an all female congregational prayer
- Nowhere in the Qur’an are women Imams forbidden
