What is the Hallermann-Streiff Syndrome?

A

A congenital disorder - affects growth, cranial, hair, and dental development
* hypotrichosis
* skin atrophy
* short stature
* microphthalmia and congenital bilat cataracts.

  • rare - only 200 cases rep in literature

What q’s to ask with people who have clinical depression?

A
  • anyone can depression, there is increased incidence in people with disabilities (e.g. ABI and stroke)
  • Sx: sad/miserable, not taking criticism well, not sleeping, loss of interest
    –> feeling this most/all the time for min. 2wks - months
  • offer referral to appropriate AHP
  • use depression screening tool
