Wk 7 Science Revision Flashcards
What is Mitosis?
Mitosis is when a cell divides into two identical cells.
How does the Mitosis cycle begin?
At the beginning of mitosis, there is
one cell.
First the nucleus divides into two.
What divides in Mitosis after the nucleus?
Then the cytoplasm divides.
What takes place at the end of Mitosis?
At the end of the process, there are
two identical cells.
How do unicellular organisms use Mitosis?
Unicellular organisms use mitosis for reproduction.
How do Multicellular organisms use Mitosis?
Multicellular organisms use mitosis for growth and
repair.
When undergoing mitosis, what happens to a multicellular organism?
All multicellular organisms, such as animals and
plants, begin life as a single cell. This cell undergoes
mitosis but the cells remain attached to each other
and the organism grows.
Explain whether cultured meat beef patty is made up of one or many cells.
It is likely it is made up of many cells. This is because it comes from the cells of the cow. These cells grow and multiply to form the patty.
