Wk 8 Science Revision :) Flashcards
What are Specialised Cells?
Specialised cells are cells with unique structures to
perform specific functions. Their features are
related to their function.
Do red blood cells have a Nucleus?
Red blood cells have no nucleus.
What are red blood cells filled with?
Instead,
they are filled with haemoglobin, which
carries oxygen.
These cells move oxygen around your body.
What do White blood cells do?
White blood cells protect your body from
disease.
What are Neurons?
Neurons are brain cells that send messages to your muscles and organs.
What do neurons look like?
Neurons have lots of branches
What do the branches on Neurons help do?
Help them send and receive signals.
What are intestinal cells?
Intestinal cells have long finger-like structures called
microvilli that increase the surface area of the intestine.
How does microvilli help the intestinal cells?
This helps the cells absorb more water and nutrients.
What do muscles join together to form?
Muscle cells join together to form long fibres and have
many mitochondria to help them contract.
How can Muscles change length?
They change length by
contracting and relaxing and allow our body to move!
