Q

What differentiates a prokaryote from a eukaryote?

A
  • They do not have any membrane bound organelles. It only has a membrane surrounding the cell and a cell wall outside of that
  • No nucleus bit it has a nucleoid where the DNA clumps around the centre though it is not surrounded by an envelope

Q

What is the difference between a Eukaryote and Prokaryote DNA?

Prokaryotes:

  • Generally singular circular chromosomes that aggregates to form the nucleoid region
  • May also have plasmids (extrachromosomal DNA) that confer special properties
  • Small compact
