Starts showing how bad the witches are and reversed natural order
Repetition and alliteration to show they are happy to cause problems to Scotland

Context-King James is scared of witches.
(Act 1 Scene 3) “All hail Macbeth, thou shalt be king!”
Exclamatory sentence to place ambition into Macbeths mind of him being king. Results to him killing the king. Shows how horrible witches are.
Themes-ambition as the witches give people the thought of ambition
Context- Divine right of king
(Act 1 scene 3) “Thou shalt get kings,though thou be none.”
Creates a slight divide between Macbeth and Banquo. Use repetition and alliteration to show how they love to cause problems for others. Leads to Macbeth killing Banquo.
Themes-ambition as it leads to Macbeth to see Banquo as an enemy
Context-Jacobean’s believed witches were there to cause problems.
Act 4 Scene 1) “Something wicked this way comes.”
Completely transformed Macbeth, now they see him as evil. Adjective “wicked”shows how they corrupted his mind. They realised they have succeeded in transforming Macbeth from being noble to evil.
Themes- Supernatural as it causes destruction. Ambition
(Act 4 Scene 1) “Double,double toil and trouble.”
Shows how the witches are delighted by causing trouble. This can be shown by the repetition of double making it like a song
