Wireless Networks Flashcards
1
Q
What network device enables the creation of a WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) and the connection to it? What is the purpose of the WLAN?
A
- Wireless Access Point.
- To connect a wireless network to a wired one.
2
Q
How do devices such as computers connect to the WIFI Network (WLAN)?
A
- Wireless access points have transmitters, antennas and receivers to create, radiate and connect devices via radio signals.
- Computers able to connect via their WIFI chips or Wireless NIC on the motherboard.
3
Q
What are the two different WIFI bands? And what are the differences between them?
A
- 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
- 2.4 GHz frequency networks are slower but are able to provide better coverage.
- 5 GHz frequency networks are faster but are not able to provide as good coverage.
4
Q
What are the 5 Wifi Standards known? And what are their respective bands?
A
- 802.11a = 5GHz
- 802.11b = 2.4 GHz
- 802.11g = 2.4 GHz
- 802.11n = 2.4 or 5 GHz
- 802.11ac = 5.0 GHz
