What is the difference between an IP address and MAC address? What’s the difference between them in terms of allocaiton?
A
- IP address is a 32 bit(IPV4) unique and identifiable number that is assigned to a node by a network.
- MAC address is unique number assigned to a NIC by a manufacturer, written in hexadecimal notation.
- IP addresses are assigned by networks and everchanging however Mac addresses are always the same.

What is the difference between Static and Dynamic IP addressing?
A
- Static Addressing is assigning of an IP address manually by an administrator.
- Dynamic IP addressing is assigning of an IP address automatically by DHCP protocol and DHCP servers.

What is the source IP address and destination IP address?
A
- Source IP address is the IP address from where the packet came from.
- Destination IP address is the IP address to where the packet is going.
