The Gallipoli Campaign (1915-1916)

A

Following the failure at the Dardanelles, Churchill supported the land campaign at Gallipoli. The operation aimed to capture the Gallipoli Peninsula and secure a sea route to Russia. However, it resulted in a costly stalemate with high casualties on both sides. The campaign is considered one of the greatest military blunders of the war.

The Dardanelles Campaign (1915)

A

Churchill was a strong advocate for a naval attack on the Dardanelles Strait to open a supply route to Russia. The campaign ended in disaster, with heavy losses and no significant gains. The failure damaged Churchill’s reputation and led to his resignation from the Admiralty
