Climate: Warmest of main wine growing region. Longest sunshine hours.

Terrior: Diverse in soil, aspect, altitude. Gimblett Gravels - well-drained, heat absorbing gravel on valley floor. reputation for black grapes
Grapes: Merlot, CabSav, Syrah
Wine Style: Know for Bordeaux Style

Martinborough
Climate: Temps can get high. But High Diurnal Range
Topography: Inside Wairarpa
Grapes: Pinot Noir: Med-Full bodied and dark plum & spice

Climate: Temps can get high. But High Diurnal Range
Topography: Small vineyards spread over wide area at S tip of N Island

Climate: Wairu Valley - largest with high summer temps, but high Dirunal range. Not uniform climate. (SavBlancs with more tropical) Awatere Valley - drier, cooler, windier. (SavBlancs with high herbaceous flavors)
Topography: Vineyards lie in two estuarirs - Wairu and Awatere.
Terrior:
Grapes: SavBlanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir (medium body with fine tannins, red cherry, cranberry), Riesling, Pinot Gris.
Wine Style: Still & Sparkling with Chardonnay & Pinot Noir.
Grape Growing/Maturation: Major center for wines
Nelson
Climate: Cooler & Wetter than Marlborough
Topography: NW of Wairau Valley. North Coast of South Island
Grapes: SavBlanc, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris.
Canterbury
Climate: Plains exposed to Pacific (cooling). Warming impact from NW winds with most impact in Waipara that has less exposure to the ocean
Topography: 2 areas. West of Christchurch. Waipara Valley in the north with protective hills.
Grapes: SavBlanc, Pinot Noir. Riesling (Waipara)
Central Otago
Climate: Continental, frost damage is risk in spring and autumn. Warm summers. Large dirunal range. Intense sunlight (leads to high alcohol)
Topography: Foothills of Southern Alps. Spread into different valleys with various aspects, soils, altitudes.
Grapes: Pinot Noir (full bodied, juicy, vibrant with concentrated ripe red fruit). Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay.
