What is the Windows User’s Profile?
A Windows profile is simply a record of user-related data characterizing a user’s computing environment. This record may include display and application settings, along with network connections.
What is the local user profile? What file path?
Changes made to the local user profile are specific to the user and to the computer on which the changes are made. Roaming User Profiles. A roaming user profile is a copy of the local profile that is copied to, and stored on, a server share. This profile is downloaded to any computer that a user logs onto on a network.

Where in the Registry?
The NTUSER.DAT file is a registry file. Each user’s NTUSER.DAT file contains the registry settings for their individual account. The Windows registry, as described by Microsoft, is a “central hierarchical database” that contains information about the software, hardware and user profiles contained on a computer.

How do roaming profiles work?
Roaming profiles work by storing the user’s profile on a network server rather than on a desktop computer. Admins can configure Active Directory so that it associates the roaming user profile with the user’s account. When the employee logs in, Windows copies the user’s profile from the network to the local computer.
