Convection Current
A circle of warm and cold are moving to create wind
Sea Breeze (day breeze)
When the land is warm and the water is cold
Land Breeze (night breeze)
When the land is cold and the water is warm
Coriolis Effect
The rotation of the earth in which causes objects in the Norther hemisphere to deflect to the right while in the Southern Hemisphere moves to the left
Jet Stream
A band of very fast moving wind caused by differences in temperature and is about 10km above the ground, moves East to West
Trade Winds
Winds that blow towards the equator and bring cooler air
Doldrums
A place near the equator where there are very few winds
La Niña
Band of cold ocean temperatures that develop off coast of South American
El Niño
Band of warm ocean temperatures. That develop off the coast of South America.
Prevailing Winds
Winds that move away from then equator
Prevailing Westerlies
Winds that blow West to East and move away from the equator
Polar Easterlies
Winds that blow East to West and blow towards the poles
Gulf Stream
An ocean current in the Atlantic Ocean
