How did Wild Turkey get its name?

A

After prohibition, distillery only made whiskey for others including Brooklyn grocer named Austin Nichols.
In 1940, Exec Thomas McCarthy took group of business associates turkey hunting and brought some whiskey from distillery.
Next hunting trip they asked for the “Wild Turkey Bourbon.”

Russell became Maser Distiller in 1967
