Why does mentorship matter? What is it about our unique time in history, sector (Tech), and location (Victoria) that makes it an important facet of our professional lives?
This is a time of rapid social and technological change - the tactical information we need to accomplish our jobs and our goals seems to be changing more quickly than ever before. Mentorship is the transmission of tactical information and advice based on experience, so this is important to allow us to adapt quickly enough to be successful in our careers.
Is this topic overrated? Underrated? Gets the right amount of attention?
All 3? Over and under? The conversation around mentorship is often framed in a way that can be hard to relate to… it’s through an “ideal world” lens. The ideal world doesn’t exist and idealized forms of formal mentorship that’s often spoken of can seem less accessible or relatable to some people
