WHS module Flashcards
The four key points of a risk assessment are…
Hint: I am Caitlin Ramsy.
Identify the hazards
Assess the risk/s
Control the risk/s
Review
Hazards are…
the objects, environments or situations that have the potential to cause harm in a workplace.
Risks are…
the probability that the harm will occur.
Includes considering the type, severity and the likelihood of the harm that could occur.
Some common hazard categories are listed below. Give examples of these:
ergonomic
ergonomic= relating to or designed for efficiency and comfort in the working environment. e.g. repetitive movements, poor postures, improper workstation set up, etc
On the consequences table related to WHS, its a scale from 1 to 5, with 5 being the (most OR (least) catastrophic consequence of a risk occuring. Which one?
Most.
What does the likelihood table refer to in WHS?
Liklihood of risk happening.
1 - 5 (rare) to (almost certain)
How does one assess the OVERALL level of risk using these tables?
Use the likelihood table and the consequences table and marry them together on a general table to find the GENERAL level of overall risk e.g. low, mild, high, critical
What are control measurs in whs?
(measures to reduce/eliminate risk)
What is Mac unis ROAR site?
ROAR (Risk Online Active Reporting) is the university’s online system for reporting risks and hazards.
What is workplace bullying?
Bullying is repeated unreasonable behaviour towards a worker or group of workers that creates a health and safety risk. It includes behaviour that intimidates, victimises, offends, threatens, degrades or humiliates a worker or group of workers.
What is workplace harassment?
Harassment is any type of behaviour, (whether explicit or implicit, verbal or non-verbal) that is unwelcome, abusive, offensive, threatening or belittling.
