What Landforms Are Created By Glacial Deposition Flashcards
Ground and terminal moraine
Material transported and deposited by glacier
Moraine is collected by the glacier using freeze-thaw weathering, plucking and abrasion
Ground moraine Is deposited below the glacier
Moraine is dropped where the glacier slows down
Terminal moraine Is dropped at the end of the Glacier
Crag and tail
Crags form when a glacier meets a hard, resistant rocks such as granite or a volcanic plug
The glacier will pass over the hard rock but leave it standing, eroding the softer rock in front of it
On the Lee slope, material is deposited. This appears as a ramp going away from the crag in the direction of the ice movement
Drumlins
Drumlins are elongated landforms which are formed of till
They can be a kilometre or more in length, 500 M and width and 50 M in height
