The underlying characteristics of a country that help define the values and norms of a society
NORMS
Are rules or expectations that are socially enforced by society.
- do not cheat
- do not steal
- be honest
SOCIAL NORMS
Social norms are the unwritten rules of beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours that are considered acceptable in a particular social group or culture
- shake hands when you meet someone
- arrive to appointments on time
- don’t talk with your mouth full of food
VALUES
Values are basic and fundamental beliefs that guide or motivate attitudes or actions. They help us to determine what is important to us.

- justice
- responsibility
