What was Jesus’ mission?
He stated his mission clearly in Luke 4;16-18
He claimed to have come for the outcasts and the marginalized.
How was the Messiah different to what people had expected? (In the OT the coming of a messiah was prophesized)
They expected the Messiah to be a KING, a warrier - rather than someone who spent all his time with poor and needy.
What do we learn about Jesus from the Gospels?
1) His mission
2) He cured and cared for sick, outcast and marginalized . He explained that people needed to have faith.
3) His apostles were with him on his mission and through listening to his teaching and seeing his miracles cane to know him as the Son of God.
4) He teaches us that the most important thing is to love one another and showed us what it means to have true obedience to God… do what God wants us to do.
5) The events from his life (suffering, death and resurrection) are at the heart of our Christian faith.
