What a fizzer Flashcards
What are the three particle models?
Solid, liquid and gas.
What are the features of a chemical and physical change?
Chemical: Not easily reversed, change in colour, substance and temperature.
Physical: Change in colour, shape and state, easily reversed.
What is a pure substance?
Pure substances are made up of the same element and are not chemically combined.
What is a mixture?
Mixtures are made up of more than one thing and are not chemically combined.
What are elements?
Substances which are made up of ONE type of atom.
What are compounds?
Substances which are made up of at least two different types of atoms and are chemically combined.
List the outcomes of Neutralisation equations.
Acid + Base –> salt + water
Acid + Metal –> salt + hydrogen
Acid + Carbonate –> salt + carbon dioxide + water
What is an endothermic reaction?
Energy which is absorbed by an object. Decrease in surrounding temperature. New bonds are formed.
What is an exothermic reaction?
Energy is released from an object. Increase in surrounding temperature as they gain kinetic energy.
What is the chemical formula for photosynthesis?
Carbon Dioxide + water ——> glucose + oxygen
sunlight
- endothermic
What is the chemical formula for respiration?
Glucose + oxygen –> carbon dioxide + water + energy
- exothermic
