some became farmers or guides. guides were people like him bridge and kit carson who helped settlers and built routes that helped these settlers move from the east to the west. (ex. oregon trail, california trail, santa fe trail)

president john tyler added texas to the US which caused a possibility for a conflict with mexico
the mexican war
with the promises of expanison, polk made attempts to peacefully acquire new mexico and california but mexico didn’t want to sell that land which put the US and mexico on the brink of war. the war was fought from 1846-1848.
