What is soft power?
Personal power- based on the way managers are viewed by others
What is hard power?
Position power based on things managers can offer to others (legitimate power)
What is the situational leadership model?
Leaders adjust their styles depending on the readiness of their followers to perform in a given situation.
What is a servant leadership?
Transcends self-interest to serve others, the organization, and society. Give to others for the good of the organisation/ people
What is authentic leadership?
Individuals who know and understand themselves, act consistently with their ethical values. Employees know what leader stands for which creates trust. Act according to their values.
What is the self-determination theory?
Motivation lies on the continuum from intrinsic motivation to extrinsic motivation
What are the Three managerial skills
Technical Skills, Human Skills, Conceptual Skills
What is a technical skill?
ability to apply expertise and perform a special task e.g master in method, in finance etc.
What is a human skill?
ability to work well with other people and though other people e.g. able to work with people
what is a conceptual skill?
ability to see the organisation as a whole and the relationship between parts
What is the goal setting theory?
Motivation can be increased and performance enhance by setting specific and challenging goals and giving timely feedback
What is equity theory?
People are motivated to seek social equity in the rewards they expect for performance
