sexual orientation
the belief in and worship of a superhuman power or powers, especially a God or gods.
religion
the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.
spirituality
a physical or mental condition that limits a person’s movements, senses, or activities.
disability
blended families. divorced, cohabitating, and same-sex couples. single parents by choice. families with adopted, foster, or stepchildren.

multigenerational issues
interconnected nature of social categorizations, such as race, class, and gender, as they apply to a given individual or group, regarded as creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage.
intersectionality
indirect, subtle, or unintentional discrimination against members of a historically oppressed group.
microagression
prolonged cruel or unjust treatment or control that is both interpersonal and institutional and can be internalized.
oppression
the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of ethnicity, age, sex, or disability.
discrimination
denoting or relating to a world view that promotes heterosexuality as the normal or preferred sexual orientation.
heteronomative

abelism
a term for an individual whose brain develops or works in ways that differ from dominant societal standards of neurocognitive functioning, such as ADHD, dyslexia, Tourette’s, epilepsy, autism, etc.
neurodivergent (ND)
procedures that can help people adjust their bodies to match their innate gender identity more closely.
gender affirming surgery (GAS)
distress caused when a person’s assigned sex at birth and assumed gender is not the same with which they identify.
gender dysmorphia
a broad term for those who challenge or subvert dominant societal expectations or expressions, roles, or stereotypes, or who expand ideas of gender expression or identity.
