  • so pompey came to fight him - his soldiers gathered in greece, and the ultimate showdown happened in Pharsalus

Caesar VS Pompey

  • caesar was outnumbered and his soldiers weak and starved (lived off of onion paste); crossed over to Greece to defeat Pompey
  • Pompey refused to fight because it was an unfair fight, but they ended up fighting and caesar defeated Pompey
  • Pompey fled to egypt
  • Caesar forgave all of Pompey’s surviving soldiers (famously forgave these people multiple times)

Death of Pompey in Egypt

  • Caesar pursued him with an intent to forgive Pompey
  • But the Egyptians killed Pompey and beheaded him to give to Caesar because they thought they would get a gift, but Caesar was not happy and he wept and said it was poor how they treated this great roman so he ended up killing all the Egyptians that killed Pompey.
