What are Initiators?
People who suggest way of doing things and introduce new idea/goals and new ways of approaching problems.
What are Information Givers?
People who offer facts, relevant information, and experience regarding the task at hand.
What are Opinion Givers?
People who state their beliefs relating to what is being discussed at the time.
What are Information Seekers?
People who request facts, information, or ideas.
What are Opinion Seekers?
People who look for clarification about the way the group members feel about the content of the topic/task at hand.
What are Elaborators or Clarifiers?
People who expand on ideas, clear up confusion, and interpret aspects of the topic at hand that are most important.
What are Summarizers?
People who pull together related ideas/suggestions and restate them back o the group after they have been discussed.
What are Gatekeepers?
People who invite others to participate when they notice some group members are not getting involved.
What are Harmonizers?
People who notice conflict and suggest talking it out or finding another way to mutually agree.
What are Describers of Emotional Climate?
These people describe the feelings that they sense within the group. They ask group members how they are reacting to what is happening.
What are Consensus Testers?
People who listen to group discussions and, when it seems the group is about to decide, they check if everyone is ready to end the discussion and make a decision.”
What is a Process Observer?
People who observe and identify for the group exactly what’s happening in order to improve the way that the group works together.
What are Tension Relievers?
Often done through humor, can also be a suggestion that the group take a break. (Inspires cohesiveness and usually serves to energize the group)
What are Encouragers?
Show acceptance of others ideas/input, noticing their contributions with positive reinforcement.
What are Blockers?
People who delay the group process by arguing or asking unrelated questions, moving the group off topic.
