What is performance
Task-related behaviour
What is effectiveness
evaluation of performance relative to expected performance standards
What is productivity
- Effectiveness relative to cost
– time, money, burnout
What is Campbell’s model of performance
Says there is declarative knowledge (knowledge about facts and things)
Says there is procedural knowledge (knowledge on how to do things)
Says there is your motivation
*these three things as well as some underlying personal factors are what effect your performance
What are work attitudes?
Feelings and beliefs about one’s job, organisation, supervisor, or another aspect of the workplace
What is job satisfaction ?
– Positive and/or negative feelings individuals hold toward their job
– A pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one’s job or job experiences
What is job involvement?
Positively identifying with the job, actively participating in it,
and considering performance important to self-worth
What is organisational commitment?
Identifying with an organisation and its goals, and
wishing to maintain membership in that organisation
What is Perceived Organisational Support
Evaluation of how much a company values employee
contributions and cares for their well-being
What is work engagement?
A positive, fulfilling work-related state of mind,
characterising employees who are active, take initiative and seek out new challenges
What is vigour?
high energy and resilience (persists when faced with difficulties)
What is dedication
A sense of the significance of one’s work - enthusiasm and pride
What is absorption
Fully concentrated on work – happily engrossed in it (time goes quickly, detaching is difficult)
What are the two measurement levels of job satisfaction?
– Global job satisfaction
* e.g., “how satisfied are you with your job?”
– 1 (highly dissatisfied) to 5 (highly satisfied)
– Job facet satisfaction
* e.g., pay, supervision, coworkers, work itself
* Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ)

Is Job satisfaction and performance related?
yes but other aspect (moderators) also play a role
