-the more genres a movie has, the more successful it is because it appeals to a wider audience
-e.g. combining a romance in a sci fi movie might appeal to men and women
-e.g. Casablanca, which is a romance, murder mystery, and spy story set furing WWII

How much do we agree on the genres?
A
-too many genres can muddle what the movie is
-Researcher at UC Davis compared genres across various databases to see if genres were consistent for each movie. Found that if the databases had the same genre, the genre identity was clear. If they disagreed on the genre, then the genre identity is fuzzy.
