Record-keeping, what needs to be noted
-Identification
-Demographic info (including source of referral)
-Notes on each counselling session
-Date of session
-Details of the person’s problem/dilemma
-Notes on the process that occurred
-Notes on the outcome
-Notes on the intervention
-Notes on any goals identified
-Notes on any contract between the person and the counsellor
-Notes on matters to be considered in later situations.
-Notes on the counsellor’s own feelings relating to the person and the counselling process.

Solution-Focused Counselling (cgnitive changes topositive)
- Look for exceptions (exception-orientated questions)
- Identifying positive responses to negative experiences
- Being positive about change that has occurred (cheerleading questions)
- Being optimistic about the future
Narrative Therapy (making the intractable negative, actually tractable)
-Positive language around their strengths
-Externalising the problem (seperating the person from the problem/ externalising interview)
