Biological sex
how individuals act in relation to the norms of masculinity and femininity in a given culture
Gender identity
attraction to members of the same or opposite or both sex
Sexual identity or orientation
someone who physically falls between what is defined as male or female based on gender, hormones, internal organ and chromosomal differences. seen as a medical condition and identity
Intersex:
a person’s sexual identification in terms of their sexual attraction; the inclination or capacity to develop intimate sexual and emotional relationship
Sexual orientation
a person whose gender identity matches society’s expectations of someone with their physical sex characteristics
Cisgender/cissexual
Refers to the external appearance, dress, mannerism and behaviour through which each individual present their internal gender, or the gender they want to appear as
Gender presentation/expression
person whose gender identity or expression differs from conventional expectations of what is male or female. “Trans” is also used as an umbrella term
Transgender
refers to individuals who do not follow other people’s ideas or stereotypes about how they should look or act based on the male and female sex they were assigned at birth
Gender non-conforming
Gender identity, in part, depends on emulating qualities from the same gender, including who one is attracted to
