deductive analysis:
you start with a theory, derive a hypothesis, and then test hypothesis with data (QUALITATIVE)
inductive analysis:
you create your theory from your data (QUANTITATIVE)
abductive analysis:
theory construction through surprising research findings; you start with a theory that establishes your research. there will be some misfits/surprises SO you try to reconstruct your theory to account for these unexpected findings.

What is a contested illness?
One in which there is debate over whether this is really a disease or not

Confidentiality-anonymity: people might post things in public forums but still feel that it is proprietary.
What challenge is unique to using the Internet as a means of reaching people?
Repeat participants: you run the risk that people will spam your system and try to skew your results by responding multiple times
What is misrepresentation?
When you think you’re talking to someone (ex: going through an illness) but they really just created a story about themselves
De-contextualized data:
You get the data because it’s out there but you can’t go much farther than that
