High Tech AAC Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Long, detailed messages created independently
Communications stored and recalled (time management strategies)
- Majority of AAC partners require no training
- Variety of options;
internet, SMS, word processing, voice synthesis, ECU
Cons:
- Can be complex to set up when required; power requirements
- System may take a moment to start up
Can be time consuming to program/configure
-Detailed training for AAC user and carer
-Purchase/maintenance costs
- Does the system operate in all environments
- Social contact
Voice Banking
Recording audio and/or video messages can allow person to replay messages in their voice to retain own personality and tone of voice
Important speeches can be recorded ahead of time
