considers behaviour expectations of a place. Influences by social experiences, real or perceived presence of others, traditions, culture, rules. Eg library, theme park, supermarket, church
social constructed meaning
places become associated with events and actions that give them personal and collective meaning eg Uluru, MCG, Gallipoli
voluntary displacement
choose to move or relocate places eg choose to travel, move house
involuntary displacement
- forced to move or relocate places eg natural disasters, war, employment, poverty. Leads to change to habits and routines
