The besieged men were in the middle of a big crowd

Lack of necessities
The poor men endured privation and couldn’t eat

Evil, ominous
The sinister group was planning something evil
Ubiquitous
Being everywhere at the same time
Tourists are ubiquitous on this island
Remote
Distant, hidden away
When I grow older, I want to live in a remote house

To hinder, defeat
The other team attempted to thwart our team
Harbinger
A forerunner, advance notice
The man’s bad attitude should’ve been a harbinger for the man to cut ties with him
Malignant
Cancer/causing damage
The person was a bad man, and was a malignant to have on our team
Excruciating
Agonizing, torturing
The voluble man was excruciating for my brain
Respite
An interval of relief, delay
The man finally stopped talking and I had a respite
Reverberating
Reechoing, resounding
The loud music was reverberating down the street
Fretful
Worrisome, irritable
The fretful man was starting to annoy me
Succumb
To give way, yield
The man succumbed to his defeat
A red herring
Something that diverts attention from the main issue
The movie “the Truman show” is all about red herrings
Sour grapes
Person that is angry because they are jealous
The man picked a fight with the other person because he was rich and the man wasnt
