To bear the consequences
I was disruptive in class and had to pay the piper by going to the office

To the point
The pertinent man was quick with his story
Mastiff
Breed of large dog
The mastiff was big and scary
Obsess
To haunt, preoccupy
The woman was obsessed with me and I had to separate from her
Doleful
Sad, melancholy
The doleful man was very negative
Wan
Sickly pale
The wan kid couldn’t come to school
Histrionics
Display of emotions, temper tantrum
The calm man tried to explain to the angry man without histrionics
Elusive
Hard to grasp
I didn’t understand the elusive concept
Frustrate
Counteract, foil, thwart
The man frustrated the speech
Symptomatic
Having to do with signs or symptoms, indicative
The coughing was symptomatic of sickness
Interject
Insert, interrupt
The man interjected the conversation
Inert
Without power to move
The inert guy injured his leg
Salient
Outstanding, prominent
The salient man was dressed uniquely
Imminent
Likely to happen, threatening
I could smell the imminent storm
Eminent
Of high reputation
The eminent student was going to college
Squeamish
Easily shocked, over sensitive
The squeamish man couldn’t handle the fbi job
Engrossed
Absorbed
The kid was engrossed in the movie
