Week 6 Part 2 Flashcards
Confidence intervals
Range of values that includes the real (or true) mean for a population of people
What happens when the CI crosses zero?
Then the result is not statistically significant
Large p value
If there is a high probability that the results are due to chance
Alpha p value is typically
5%
Chi square
Statistic used to analyze nominal (categorical) data
T test
Is used to compare the mean of two groups
Example: do elderly mean and women differ in speed of walking?
Analysis of variance ANOVA
used to compare results for more than two groups?
Example: are there differences in walking speeds among elderly men, middle aged men, and middle aged women?
Repeated measures ANOVA
Repeated measure is used to compare multiple measures from the same subject. Multiple measure may be taken within a shorter or longer period.
Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA)
Comparison was made between two treatments at three time points
