Reciprocating engines
What is the purpose of a manifold pressure gauge?
Show pressure in the manifold and power

Either increase rpm or MP

where temp is being taken (output of engine)
What are the 2 types of Thermocouple hot junctions?
Gasket and Bayonet type
Where are Bayonet type thermocouples most frequent and what do they measure?
Turbine EGT Probes
What is the purpose of the holes in an EGT Probe?
Stops airflow to get accurate reading
What are the 2 types of Fuel System Monitoring Instruments?
Fuel Flow and Fuel Pressure
What does the capacitance fuel quantity system measure?
Fuel quantity and density
How do you overcome the affect of tilt in the fuel tank?
Multiple probes then average it
What is the compensator and where is it located?
Found low in the tank, compensates for temp variations

Fuel going into the engine, found on turbines
What is the purpose of a Mass Flowmeter?
Measures mass fuel flow rate in turbine engines in PP/H or Kg/h
