- designed to control costs and “ensure that an anesthesiologist demonstrated that he or she provided certain services as part of a given anesthetic to qualify for payment
Adverse implications for CRNAs = the seven conditions were misconstrued by the ASA as standards of practice
- when the CRNAs were employed by the anesthesiologist, each service was billed as though the anesthesiologist had administered each case
- Effected CRNA billing

Ensured that Medicare and Medicaid have paid directly for all CRNA services
