What is fitness to practice?
FTP means where a registrant has skills, knowledge, character and health to practice safely and effectively
What is duty of candor?
- being open and honest
- apologise
- take action to put things right where possible
What are some examples of impairment from the HCPC?
- dishonest
- exploited a vulnerable person
- failed to act in best interest of the service user
What are examples of misconduct?
- failing to provide adequate care
- failure to maintain professional boundaries
- breach of patient confidentiality
- falsely claiming sick leave
What are examples of a lack of competence?
- poor record keeping
- inadequate professional knowledge
- poor clinical reasoning
What are examples of caution or conviction?
- theft, fraud
- sexual offences
- drinking or drug related offences
- violent offences
What are examples of physical or mental health FTP?
- unmanaged serious illness
untreated alcohol/drug dependence - failure to make adjustment to ensure service users safety in light of a health condition
What is self-referral?
When you inform us of a concern about your conduct, competence, health or wellbeing that may impair (negatively affect) your ability to practise safely and effectively.
What is employer referral?
When an employer has a concern that raises the question of fitness to practice, and reports to the HCPC
