week 5 Flashcards
Sympathetic neurotransmitters and receptors
Primary: releases ACH to nicotonic
Secondary: releases Epi to adrenergic (alpha and beta)
Sweat gland: releases ACH to muscarinic
Parasympathetic neurotransmitters and receptors
Primary: ACH to nicotonic
Secondary: ACH to muscarinic
Somatic neurotransmitters and receptors
Only one: ACH to nicotonic
Sympathetic to adrenal gland
Primary: ACH to nicotonic
Secondary: adrenal medulla chromafin cells which releases NE
Where does sympathetic occur?
T1-L5
parts of sympathetic nervous system
para vertebral ganglia- make up symp trunk, anterior to spine
pre vertebral ganglia (collateral ganglia)-used to go to organs, anterior and lateral to spine
sympathetic to head area
-synapse at superior cervical ganglia and then use peri-arterial pathway to reach destination
What area does parasympathetic come from?
cranio-sacral
cranial nerves affected by parasympathetic
3- ocular motor
7- facial
9- glossopharyngeal
10- vagus (wandering nerve)
where does parasympathetic synapse?
pre-ganglion: visceral wall of organ
post-ganglion: on organ
where does sympathetic synapse?
pre ganglion: para or pre vertebral ganglia
post ganglion: on target organ
